NFKPC 11th Annual Koi Show 2002

The Koi Show this year was a huge success with the club making some good money thanks to Ray Lucas and Mike Masterson. The weather cooperated so we had an excellent turn out both days. This year we added a new class, our container garden class for which we had 4 entrees, Greg & Diane Young, Marlene & John Hyden, Lorri & John Porter , and Nancy Wojnowski. These container gardens were judged by Sally Cunningham from Cornell Cooperative Extension, who did an excellent job. She even did an individual critique on each one. Thanks again Sally for an excellent job. I would also like to thank Diane Young for making the awards for this category, they were wonderful.

The Koi show this year had 5 entrants, Phil Grefrath, Bonita Wulf, Nancy Wojnowski, Tracy Prucnal and Fred Loftis. The Koi entrees were judged by Mark Curtis owner of Skekinah Aquatic Solutions in Markham Ontario, who also gave a lecture on pond construction. The awards for this years show also had sponsors, Grand Champion was sponsored and donated by Skenienah Aquatic Solutions, Tategoi was sponsored by Hahn's Sales & Service, Most Unusual was sponsored by Pets Plus, Kohaku over 12" was sponsored by The Fish Place, Showa over 12" was sponsored by Niagara Aquarium and Sanke over 12" was sponsored by the Tropical Fish Club. Thanks again to all of our award sponsors.

Once again, Mark Curtis came down from Toronto to serve as our judge. We would like to thank Mark for a job well done.

Arts & Crafts

We had a great turnout for our Arts & Crafts class and also our Photography class. Thanks goes out to Charlotte Pearson for tackling this. The Photography class was judged by Mike Masterson and the Arts & Crafts were judged by Mike's wife Joanne. Thank you Mike & Joanne.

The club had three excellent lectures on Saturday which took place in our new club tent. Thanks go out to Greg and Marlene for doing two of the lectures and to Mark Curtis for the other one. Our tent is an excellent spot for these talks but is too bright to have overheads & slides, a different top might have to be purchased for next year I would like to thank all of the following people for the help they gave; Greg & Diane Young, Lorri & John Porter, Marlene & John Hyden, Charlotte Pearson & Jim Jacobs, Tom & Janet Tower, Bonita Wulf, Phil Grefrath, Roy Sieders, Ed & Mary Mckee, Nancy Wojnowski, Cliff Mayes, Mike Curry.
