The show is all over except for the memories. And what memories they are! Our display was fabulous and most of the professionals at the show came to see it and to comment on what a great job we did. If you did not get to the show this year, you missed something really wonderful. Don't miss the opportunity in 2003.
The committee gratefully thanks The Fish Place for loaning us the beautiful koi that added so much to the pond display. Thank you once again to Adams Nursery for loaning the mulch free of charge for the second year in a row. Our landscape was much improved by the addition of a lovely trellis and fence, a donation from the Kavinoky Theater at D'Youville College. Our beautiful green plants and lovely flowers in bloom were in large part due to the generosity of Dr. David Headly of the Botanical Gardens of Buffalo and Erie County who allowed us greenhouse space for forcing early bloom. And last, but certainly not least, our good friend Mike Masterson of Masterson's Home & Garden Showplace donated the liner for our pond which will be used many times in the future. Please remember our generous donors when you are making your garden purchases.
Thanks to Sharon Weber of Earthlines and Steve Bakowski of Beaver Landscaping, both members of the Western NY State Nurserymen and Landscapers Association and both very instrumental in making Plantasia "work". They were extremely helpful to us in allowing early access to our exhibit area and generally "being there" whenever we had a question.
Thanks as well to our members, who in addition to members from the Buffalo Area Daylily Society, the Western NY Hosta and Western NY Iris clubs, made the display work. On set up from NFKPC were John & Lorri Porter, Greg & Diane Young, Mary Jane Bolo, Roy Seiders, Ed McKee, John & Marlene Hyden and Charlotte Pearson. Manning the display for NFKPC during the show was Jim Germann, Greg Young, Sue Burkholder, Charlotte Pearson, Jim Jacobs, Ed Meadway, Roy Seiders, Nate & Bev Jarmuz, Paul & Karen Braymiller, Mike & Mary Jane Bolo, Greg Gordon & Chris Evert, and Marlene Hyden. We started tearing down the exhibit at 5:00 PM Sunday and we were finished and out of there by 8:00 PM; a remarkable achievement. Thanks to John & Lorri Porter, Art & Barb Weber, Ed McKee, Roy Seiders, Krissy Sokolik, Kathy Rimmer, Greg & Diane Young and John & Marlene Hyden. Thanks also to Marlene's son and daughter-in-law, Jon & Nicole McCumber who helped move the truckload of rocks, and transported all of them back to North Tonawanda where they, along with John Hyden, unloaded the truck and carried them all to the back yard.
